You think your pool is
cold........
I was
looking around on the internet and came across this item, The World
Winter Swimming Championships. They took place in Lake Bled,
Slovenia on January 22-24, 2010. Normally, I wouldn't think twice
about this article, this time it caught my eye. Maybe because of
the cold weather we are having here, it seemed to fit. This is a
normal championship meet by most accounts. The major difference is
that many age groups are taken into account, considering that the
youngest competitor was 10 and the oldest 84. A rather unusual rule
for breaststroke relay categories; Combined age under 150yrs,
Combined age 150-200yrs, Combined age over 200yrs. All this being
said, you really need to check out the results, rules, and photos
for yourself.
By the way the water temperature is about 4 degrees celsius, or
about 39.5 degrees fahrenheit.

Many thanks to Ryan
Lochte
Many thanks to Speedo and All-American
Swim Supply for making Ryan's visit possible. After being delayed
in his trip to Raleigh, Ryan arrived shortly after 5PM to a loud
welcome at TAC. Lots of screaming fans and flashes from cameras
greeted him, making him feel quite welcome. After a short,
inspiring talk he spent the rest of the visit signing autographs,
and visiting with many of the young swimmers, It was a great visit,
short as it was, from one of the best swimmers in the
world.
