WAVE Takes 2nd at Open Water Nationals

The Team of Elisabeth Holmes, Claire Fuscoe, Ashlyn Butkowski and Sarah Jabusch combined for a second place finish at USA Swimming’s Open Water National Championships, in the women’s team event. We had a beautiful day at the beach for our practice session on Saturday and then had some time to enjoy Florida. On Sunday for the race the skies were gray and the wind was blowing, but our girls stayed tough and focused. Battling in a large pack of around 30 girls for most of an hour they finished strong as a team taking second place. After the race the girls were able to meet with Olympic gold medalist Tripp Schwenk, see his medals, and hear some stories about his swimming career. It was a great weekend in Fort Myers for the girls and WAVE Swimming!
